The Jagged O Scholarship
The Jagged O scholarship has been designed to encourage individuals who have the desire to go into a profession where they will help others overcome hardship, must face huge obstacles in order to obtain their education. This would include single mothers, students who are returning to school after a long period of substance abuse or imprisonment and students who are forced to work and go to school in order to provide for their families. Currently the scholarship is being given to students who attend Los Angeles City College in the Human Services Program. The application for this scholarship will be posted in March 2008. Recipients of the award will be determined by a one- page essay submission which details their goals and life experiences.
